Cause I'm a Wizard.

Math... not my strong suit.  Not at all.  Sadly, I have lots of really smart math understanding friends and they like to show off on facebook by posting crazy things like ‎3 x 10^8 m/s which is apparently the speed of light.  Who knew? Well the smart math kids did of course.  Anyways, after a super long post about math thingys... I got mad and said I was going to go and make a basket out of fabric.  And I did.
See!!! It's a cute new sewing basket

The inside is fully lined.

Super cute handles.

And the reason I'm a wizard? Because I can sew and the smart math kids can't. See we all have our gifts. ;)

On another note, Bitty Rat is feeling much better and is a happy little healthy cat! YAY!  School is going well for me and Joe has a few interviews coming up! Life is good down here!

ALTHOUGH... the Huntsman count is up to 6 that have been in our room so far... eeeeekkkkk.... But I'm even getting used to those terrible things.  This morning I just pointed and said "Really?" and Joe killed it! YAY!

Prayers for the Rat

Yeterday was supposed to be a great day.  We finally got to being the Rat home from Kitty Jail.  YAY.  Except that the quarantine people told us that he had been vomiting for the last three days.  In a normal cat this wouldn't be an issue. But Bitty Rat spent most of November in the Kitty Hospital with Hepatic Lipidosis, a condition that if not treated can be fatal.  And the last three days he has been vomiting and looking nauseus.  We took him to the vet today and were told it's critical that he start eating normally so that he dosen't get it again.

So please pray that my beautiful cat gets over this and starts eating ASAP.

Thanks.

This and That.

Life has been very very busy here in Australia.  We've been flat out like a lizard drinking. LOL.  A little Aussie slang there for you. :)

Let's see, we have moved in with Joe's Aunt and Uncle down in Wollongong.  We are enjoying it very much! We've got our own little Granny Flat in the backyard and can come and go as we please.  Its working out well for everyone!  We share the cooking duties and have family style dinners most week nights. It's good!

One of our major projects right now is refinishing this unique cabinet that we got at the Salvos, or salvation army.  The project is a bit bigger than we thought it would be, but we are having fun doing it. I am planning on posting a how to guide when it is all finished, mainly because we have learned so much in the process!

 Front.

Inside the cabinet, once we took the doors off.

One of the things that I'm getting used to here in Oz is the sheer size of things. The bugs are HUGE!  The following pictures are WORMS!!! They were easily well over a foot long.  Kinda puts the little 4 inch worms I played with as a kid to shame.

A worm and my size 10 shoe. OMG

Another worm.  Can you tell I was impressed.

While we were in Sydney with the Kiwis, we took the underground system and in one of the stations came across an escalator made of WOOD! It was so cool!

 SEE! WOOD!!!

 Another view of the treads.

 Wooden escalator.

What do you do when you want to hang up a picture but can't fins a hammer?

Use a beer bottle of course!

Joe thinks this is funny... so do I! :)

In other random news, I've gone back to school for HR and Joe's job search is going well. And now we have to go visit the cat! YAY! Cyas

Kiwis come to Oz.

Joe and I are techo-geeks, I'm not sure what this means, but Joe assures me that is what we are.  I used to be less of a geek and then I married Joe and started playing World of Warcraft and watching SciFi and all sorts of other cool yet geeky things.  Anyways, all of that to say being a geek is cool.  Being a geek who plays MMORPGs is even cooler, mainly because you get to meet and become friends with people from all over the world.  And then sometimes real life and gaming life collides and you get to meet them in person and hang out! So fun!!!

Kiwis at the Zoo. As seen through the glass of a sky ferry.

Two of our awesome gamer friends and one of their friends who we didn't know came to Sydney and we got to hang out.  I haven't asked them if I can mention their names on my blog yet so they shall be known as Pew Pew, Visc, and Player 3.  It was so very cool to get to run around with awesome friends that you have known for years but not gotten to hang out with.  Very very cool!

What do you do with a Kiwi in Oz? Take them to see the sights of course! :)

 At the ZOO!!!

Cranky Koala poses for a picture!

My favourite things at the zoo... hefalumps! :) Squeeee!!!

Pew Pew, Player 3 and Visc hanging out with an elephant.  Silly Pew Pew, elephants don't eat ice's!

Baby tiger at the zoo... squeeeee!!! So cute!

 Joe and Pew Pew navigate.

Joe comparing his wingspan... pretty huge!

The Kiwis were only in town for a long weekend, so the sightseeing was a bit frantic.  In two full and two half days we did a walking tour of Sydney, went to the Harry Potter exhibit at the Powerhouse Museum, went to the National Gallery, The Australia Museum, the Zoo, took the ferry (or fairy as Pew Pew spelled it... lol) to Manly, went to the Manly Aquarium, had dinner at the top of the Centrepoint Tower, visited the Rocks, watched fireworks on Darling Harbour and went to Harry's pie stand.  I'm tired just thinking about it.  We did a LOT!

The Boys take a break during their walking tour.  I was a smart girl, I went to visit the cat. lol.

 Darling Harbour

 Fireworks!

Joe and Pew Pew eat Pies. Nom Nom Nom.

We had to take the Ferry over to Manly to go see the sights there.  I'm not much of a water or a boat person, so crossing through the heads was a bit of an adventure for me.  The heads is where the harbor ends and the ocean begins, and apparently there is a bit of water that crashes into another bit of water there and makes for a very rough ride.  I get seasick in the bathtub, so you can imagine how well that all went over. LOL.

There we are sitting in the back of the boat on the bottom level in the middle seat, you know the place where the boat moves the least.  And the skipper (is that what you call them??) announces that there is rough water ahead and to please take your seats.  (slight panic)  So Joe is there assuring me it won't be that bad and the boat takes an abrupt list to the left side.  And then creaks back over to the right, this horrible tossing continues and at one point I look out and all I see on one side is water and all I see on the other is sky.
Of COURSE this pushes every "THAT AIN'T RIGHT" button that I have and I start to freak out.  I'm asking Joe if we're gonna sink, and does he have an escape plan if the boat goes down, and if we know where our life jackets are and can we put them on now please.  Joe of course finds this highly amusing but is good enough to not laugh at me and calmly assures me that the ferry is fine and we aren't going down.   But in case we did, he did indeed have a plan on how to save us.  Good man!

We did make it to Manly and back. YAY! (Told you I wasn't a boat person)

I don't know what is up with this turtle... It was taking a nap with its buns in the air. LOL.

 SHARKS!!!! EEEEKKKK!!!

 Kiwis eyeballing the sharks.

LOL They are serious about poop in Manly.

Taking the Ferry back.

The Kiwis came... and a good time was had by all!

The Rat has arrived!

We have a cat, Bitty Rat.  He's super cute! And amazingly, wonderfully, after many issues involving three governments, an epic snow storm and a very difficult vet in Canada he has arrived in Australia and is serving his time in Kitty Jail aka quarantine.

Here he is the first day we got to visit him.

The first visit we had with him he was so very happy to see us. He mewed and meowed and circled around our legs and shook his little tail at us as if to say HELLO! Then he went and stood by the door, like "I'm ready to go now, lets get out of here".  Poor little dude.  He wasn't very happy when he had to stay.

"I can see the door but they won't let me out!!!"

The girl taking care of the Rat whilst he's in the pokey is Laura.  She is super sweet and gives him lots of love and scritches.  However, on the first day she wanted to know if he was always grumpy and made several comments about how angry he was.  I was like...ummm he's been stuck in a box for 20+ hours, been on a plane for the first time in his life, and as soon as he met you, you stuck a thermometer up his bum.  I'd be grumpy too. LOL.

 Joe and Bits

 My baby!

Bits is known as being Joe's cat.  But the first day in quarantine all he wanted was his Mommy.  Awwwwwwwww

 Cuddle time.

We are going to see the Rat today, its the last time we have to visit him and then leave him there, in a week, he comes home for good and gets to be an Aussie Rat! WOOT!!!!

The view from the Rat's cage

Rain... and more rain... I say in all seriousness, if I wanted rain, I could have stayed in Seattle. YEESH! I thought this was supposed to be a hot and dry country.  :(  Terrible summer.  Funnily, I keep thinking, "Oh well, summer's in a few months, don't worry about the rain." But then I remember...I'm on the bottom side of the world now... June is WINTER!!!  How screwed up is that!

Grooming Daddy.

HUGE thanks have to go out to Mel and Ryan who drove for hours through a snow storm and hung in there when things went to hell in Canada trying to get the Rat out of the country.  It was a hugely stressful weekend for everyone but they had a little dude who wouldn't let them sleep so they had it a bit worse.  Thank you guys for being amazing friends and for getting my little dude over here for me! Love you guys!!!
